SILENT NIGHT
(On Christmas Eve in 1818 at Oberndorf, Austria, Joseph Mohr gave his friend and church organist, Franz Gruber, the words as a gift. The song was published in 1842.)

Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright;
'Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight,
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavely hosts sing alleluia;
Christ the Saviour, is born!
Christ the Saviour, is born!

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
